Alexander Barrio is a Senior Associate at Fuentes Strategies and Acting Executive Director of BoricuActivatEd. He previously worked as Director of Advocacy for Gun Violence Prevention at the Center for American Progress. Prior to that he was the political director and chief of staff at Alianza for Progress, a c4 organization that works to engage and mobilize Latino voters across Florida, boosting turnout by hundreds of thousands across the Central Florida region. Barrio has a long history of political activism and policy work, having served as the district director for Rep. Darren Soto (D-FL) and prior to that as a legislative analyst with the Florida Senate Democratic Caucus.
He has also served as political director for SEIU Local 1991 in Miami and in various positions, from canvasser to campaign manager to candidate, on a variety of campaigns dating back to 2004. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and a J.D. from Florida International University College of Law.
